Agitations: Look Into Possible Causes In Nigeria And Address It– Ogbako Ndigbo Nile

A sociocultural group, Ogbako Ndigbo Nile, has called on the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to look into issues causing agitation in the country and address it without further delay.

The National President of the group, Azunna Akpelu made this call on Sunday 30 June in Owerri, during the inauguration of the group.

They group also accused the former President of Nigeria, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari Retd., of negligence to address the issues of agitation in Nigeria during his eight years in office.

In his view, Akpelu believed that the failure of the immediate past administration to look into the remote cause of agitations across the country was a major reason for the many troubles have bedeviled Nigeria.

Recall that the former Anambra State governor and Labour Party presidential in the 2023 election, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, had called President Tinubu to release the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu as courts of competent jurisdictions have granted him bail.

The President of Ogbako Ndigbo Nile said: “Ogbako Ndigbo is ready to bring all of us together, the North, South to speak in one voice. Ndigbo wants to participate in everything that concerns us. The way it is, if you did not say this is the place you are you will not be noticed.

“We must come out and stop the lies that are told about us. Again, we are being told lies that Igbo hate Hausa, Igbo hate Yoruba is not true. Those saying this are creating enemies in Nigeria and it is part of the issue we will address and correct.

Akpelu stated that there are Igbos both resident and doing businesses in every state in the country.

“We have Ndigbo in every state. For all I know what makes people one is cultural affinity. Anywhere you see people observing the four market days they are Igbos. Nigeria is complete here.

“So, the Igbos who are seeking secession are doing so because they are not recognized. They are marginalised. And again, the misconception about Igbo is too much and we must stop it as well as correct the misconception about us.”

“Ogbako Ndigbo Nile is out now to unite our kith and kin anywhere they are. Every Igbo man should love themselves. We should come back to those things that bind us together. Since after the war, no Igbo man has tested the seat of power. Maybe Nigeria is waiting for Igbo to move forward.

In his view about the causes of agitations in Nigeria, Akpelu said, “Let me take this message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we want him to look into issues that brought agitation in Nigeria. If former President Muhammadu Buhari, had looked into the issues, we may not have this situation now. Please the economy of Nigeria is going down and we need to address it now,”he said.

Additionally, the Yoruba Socio-cultural group, Secretary General of Council of Yoruba Elders, CYE, Victor Taiwo, said: “Looking back into history, we must have realized our continued co-existence in Nigeria is going to be a very difficult thing unless we the pioneer leaders of this movement and all well-meaning patriotic Nigerians are sincere and determined to make things work against all odds. If not, we have come to the end of the country called Nigeria whether we like it or not.”

Chairman East Nigeria Peoples Assembly and chairman of North East, New Nigeria Movement, Suleiman Bajirei, shortly said: “Let us look at ourselves with eyes of unity and love.”
