Bishop Oyedepo angered by CAMA, ‘Create your own Country’, Buhari’s aide replies him
The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as the Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, while speaking in his church on Sunday, described as illegal the power given to a minister to remove a trustee and close the accounts of the church without legal backing.
He said, “Who was Paul persecuting? The church! Who said, “I’m the one you are persecuting?” Jesus! This country is going too far and it’s a risk. I saw something on CAMA (Company Allied Matters Act) and they put religious bodies there that Registrar-General can remove trustees without a recourse to the court. Don’t try it!”
Oyedepo has come under criticism, following his comments where he warned the Federal Government, to remove the part of the newly-signed Companies and Allied Matters Acts (CAMA), 2020, that allows a supervising minister to remove the board of trustees of churches.
David Oyedepo, has told those insulting him that they are wasting their time.
An aide to President Buhari on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, berated Bishop David Oyedepo in a tweet on Monday and said the cleric “will have to manufacture his own country and live by his own laws.”
But Bishop Oyedepo in a sermon on Tuesday morning tagged, ‘Breaking Limits’ posted on the church’s social media platforms, said, “Anybody insulting me is wasting his time. One, I didn’t hear. Two, even if I heard, it won’t pain me.
“Nobody has the power to determine how many people worship Jesus. No force on earth has the power. So, get all the facilities ready. The devil is tired.
“As of last night, we got the report of 520 of our new churches planted on August 16. No policy under heaven can stop it. If I were the devil, I will start mourning now. Shame on the devil.”
