Beirut: Lebanon’s PM Diab, entire Govt resigns after Beirut Explosion, Nigerian Govt can’t do same!

Lebanon's PM - Hassan Diab Who Reigned on 10/08/2020, Following a Mass Protest over Beirut Explosion.

Lebanon’s premier Hassan Diab resigned with his entire Govt. Demonstrators had demanded political change after a huge explosion in Beirut killed more than 160 people last week. But can this happen in Nigeria where thousands of people have been massacred in different terrorist, Jihadists, Fulani herdsmen and bandits’ attacks? The answer is NO.

In Nigeria, peaceful and armless demonstrators are often brutalized, illegally arrested and most times killed, whereas nearly a thousand “repentant Boko Haram terrorists” have been reintegrated into the society in the last 2yrs.

PM Hassan Diab stepped down Monday amid fury within and outside his government over the deadly Beirut port blast he blamed on the incompetence and corruption of a decades-old ruling class.

In a brief televised speech, Mr Diab said he is taking “a step back” so he can stand with the people “and fight the battle for change alongside them”.

“Today we are heeding the people and their demands to hold accountable those responsible for a disaster,” he said in a televised address, blaming a “corrupt” political class that has ruled Lebanon for more than 30 years for the August 4 explosion.

“This is why today I announce the resignation of the government.”

He said: “I declare today the resignation of this government. May God protect Lebanon.”

He repeated the last phrase three times.

The cabinet has been under increasing pressure after several ministers quit or expressed their intention to step down in recent days.

Mr Hamad said: “The whole government resigned.”

This can never ever happen in Nigeria, be it this very legendary Beirut protest or Government’s Mass Resignation. And you wonder why Nigeria is thousands of years behind development?

What a shame Nigeria is!
