Zamfara killings: Police seal mining locations in Kano
The Police personnel in Kano State have taking over mining sites in the state as part of efforts at checking criminality and illegal mining by foreigners.
DSP Abdullahi Haruna, the Police Public Relations Officer on who disclosed in a statement in Kano, said, “In compliance with the Federal Government of Nigeria’s resolution to suspend mining activities in some parts of the country due to security reasons, the Kano State Police Command has visited Rimi mining site in Sumaila LGA to enforce the suspension. Adequate deployment of Policemen was already made at the site to ensure compliance.”
The police however advised the general public to comply with the order pending further considerations by the federal government, adding that “members of the public are enjoined to keep off until federal government of Nigeria makes further consideration.”
