VP Yemi Osinbajo flags off 2019 Pres. campaign at Nyanya, Abuja
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday evening hit the 2019 presidential campaign trail with visits to suburbs of Nyanya and Karu areas in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Surging crowds greeted him there as people struggled to catch a glimpse or shake hands with himb as he moved in the densely populated suburbs of the Nigerian capital.
Osinbajo’s first port of call was at the Nyanya residence of Alhaji Kabiru Ahmed where he told the crowd that he came to greet them and solicit their votes for him and President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 polls.
“We are here to greet you and we want to say to you that President Buhari is determined that, if you vote for him for this second term, we will all go higher; we will all do better.
“Our country can feed all of us and we can find work for everybody because we have the money. I want you all, everybody who is here, please, make sure that you vote for President Buhari in 2019.
“As you know, he’s a truthful man, he’s an honest man. Our money will be used for us; it will be used to build our roads. Our money will be used properly. It will not be stolen. So let us vote for the man who will use our money well”, he told them.
He took the same message to Karu where he addressed people at the community square, telling them that “we are going higher higher; we are going higher higher and I am very happy to be here with you
“I want you to believe that President Muhammadu Buhari is going to do even better. We have to create more jobs for all these young people; we have to give our market women credit so that they can do more business; our young people money so that they can do more business.
“We came to meet you where you are; to hear from you. This country will become better and better; by the grace of God. All of us who are here will prosper in this Nigeria.
“The only thing is that the government must not steal money and if the government does not steal the money, there will be enough for all us.
“That is why President Muhammadu Buhari is the right president for us. I will appeal that you will vote him in the proper time.”
Head of one of the compounds, Chief Habaku Jimiko, told the Vice-President that the leaders of the community were concerned about the welfare of the people.
He said the people of the area were willing to support government programmes and called for the economic empowerment of the people.
