NLT: A psalm of David. Keep me safe, O God, for I have come to you for refuge.

KJV: O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;
NLT: I said to the Lord, “You are my Master! All the good things I have are from you.”

KJV: But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.
NLT: The godly people in the land are my true heroes! I take pleasure in them!

KJV: Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
NLT: Those who chase after other gods will be filled with sorrow. I will not take part in their sacrifices or even speak the names of their gods.

KJV: The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.
NLT: Lord, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine.

KJV: The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
NLT: The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance!

KJV: I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
NLT: I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me.

NLT: I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.

NLT: No wonder my heart is filled with joy, and my mouth shouts his praises! My body rests in safety.

KJV: For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
NLT: For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your godly one to rot in the grave.

KJV: Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.
NLT: You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.
