SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY SUNDAY 29 APRIL 2018
1
KJV: The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
NLT: For the choir director: A psalm of David. Only fools say in their hearts, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; no one does good!
2
KJV: The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
NLT: The Lord looks down from heaven on the entire human race; he looks to see if there is even one with real understanding, one who seeks for God.
3
KJV: They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
NLT: But no, all have turned away from God; all have become corrupt. No one does good, not even one!
4
KJV: Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.
NLT: Will those who do evil never learn? They eat up my people like bread; they wouldn’t think of praying to the Lord.
5
KJV: There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.
NLT: Terror will grip them, for God is with those who obey him.
6
KJV: Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge.
NLT: The wicked frustrate the plans of the oppressed, but the Lord will protect his people.
7
KJV: Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
NLT: Oh, that salvation would come from Mount Zion to rescue Israel! For when the Lord restores his people, Jacob will shout with joy, and Israel will rejoice.
