SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY MONDAY 6 NOV. 2017

Psalms 1:1-6

1

WEB: Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand on the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers;

BBE: Happy is the man who does not go in the company of sinners, or take his place in the way of evil-doers, or in the seat of those who do not give honour to the Lord.

NIV: Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,

WEB: but his delight is in Yahweh’s law. On his law he meditates day and night.

BBE: But whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and whose mind is on his law day and night.

NIV: but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.

WEB: He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper.

BBE: He will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, which gives its fruit at the right time, whose leaves will ever be green; and he will do well in all his undertakings.

NIV: That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither — whatever they do prospers.

WEB: The wicked are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind drives away.

BBE: The evil-doers are not so; but are like the dust from the grain, which the wind takes away.

NIV: Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.

WEB: Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

BBE: For this cause there will be no mercy for sinners when they are judged, and the evil-doers will have no place among the upright,

NIV: Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

WEB: For Yahweh knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked shall perish.

BBE: Because the Lord sees the way of the upright, but the end of the sinner is destruction.

NIV: For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
