SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY THURSDAY 28 SEPT. 2017
Psalms 92:1-15
KJV: It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:
NIV: It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High,
NLT: A psalm to be sung on the Lord’s Day. A song. It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High.
Psalms 92:2
KJV: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,
NIV: proclaiming your love in the morning and your faithfulness at night,
NLT: It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening,
Psalms 92:3
KJV: Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.
NIV: to the music of the ten-stringed lyre and the melody of the harp.
NLT: accompanied by the harp and lute and the harmony of the lyre.
Psalms 92:4
KJV: For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.
NIV: For you make me glad by your deeds, LORD; I sing for joy at what your hands have done.
NLT: You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me! I sing for joy because of what you have done.
Psalms 92:5
KJV: O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.
NIV: How great are your works, LORD, how profound your thoughts!
NLT: O Lord, what great miracles you do! And how deep are your thoughts.
Psalms 92:6
KJV: A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.
NIV: Senseless people do not know, fools do not understand,
NLT: Only an ignorant person would not know this! Only a fool would not understand it.
Psalms 92:7
KJV: When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:
NIV: that though the wicked spring up like grass and all evildoers flourish, they will be destroyed forever.
NLT: Although the wicked flourish like weeds, and evildoers blossom with success, there is only eternal destruction ahead of them.
Psalms 92:8
KJV: But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore.
NIV: But you, LORD, are forever exalted.
NLT: But you are exalted in the heavens. You, O Lord, continue forever.
Psalms 92:9
KJV: For, lo, thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.
NIV: For surely your enemies, LORD, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered.
NLT: Your enemies, Lord, will surely perish; all evildoers will be scattered.
Psalms 92:10
KJV: But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.
NIV: You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; fine oils have been poured on me.
NLT: But you have made me as strong as a wild bull. How refreshed I am by your power!
Psalms 92:11
KJV: Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.
NIV: My eyes have seen the defeat of my adversaries; my ears have heard the rout of my wicked foes.
NLT: With my own eyes I have seen the downfall of my enemies; with my own ears I have heard the defeat of my wicked opponents.
Psalms 92:12
KJV: The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
NIV: The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;
NLT: But the godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong like the cedars of Lebanon.
Psalms 92:13
KJV: Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.
NIV: planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God.
NLT: For they are transplanted into the Lord’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God.
Psalms 92:14
KJV: They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;
NIV: They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green,
NLT: Even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain vital and green.
Psalms 92:15
KJV: To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.
NIV: proclaiming, “The LORD is upright; he is my Rock, and there is no wickedness in him.”
NLT: They will declare, “The Lord is just! He is my rock! There is nothing but goodness in him!”
